Phat Albert is an eight-piece band specializing in the Funk, Disco, and R&B of the 70's. While they admit there's no startling resemblance between themselves and the cartoon kids, Phat Albert can provide a groove that's as slick as polyester, and as funky as anyone foolish enough to be caught wearing that stuff. Phat Albert covers the hits of the era, as well as including some favorite tracks from a little deeper into the vinyl. The Phat Albert project began in late 1997 with vocalist Chris Buerkley and guitarist Chris Dabney. An acoustic act at the time, the two decided that it was time to reintroduce folks to electric funk. Chris and Chris continued to work the pub circuit while rehearsing with a rhythm section, and Buerkley taught his daughter to say "Stevie (Wonder) is god." The band is now complete with keyboards and horns, and is ready to put the funk in your function. Should you need additional talent, chances are you'll find it in one of the band's peripheral projects - the original acoustic duo, a 80's & 90's rock band, and an original funk/rock group called Ant Hill Mob.
