Highly Kind
Based out of Gadsden, AL, Albert Simpson, lead vocalist, guitarist, and leader of the band, played in several groups that toured colleges and couches around the southeast for several years, learning the hard way what it was to be called working musician. In 2005, Trey Evans, (Keyboardist form Montgomery, AL), was dragged kicking and screaming into the band. Straining their way through the musical soup that the southeast had to offer, Al and Trey eventually found a bass player, ex-semi-pro wrestler from Dothan, AL named Kevin Scott. Juggling drummers like chainsaws for months, the band picked up Duane Trucks, (from Jacksonville, Florida, brother of Derek Trucks, of The Derek Trucks Band).
Duane also, occasionally tours with Soul Stew, which is Derek and his wife, Susan Tedeschi. David Crenshaw, from Birmingham, AL, who toured with Ruben Studdard, fills the gap while Duane is on the road with Soul Stew.
After singing with Rockin Camel Music, the band recorded with legendary producer Johnny Sandlin, who produced great acts like The Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, Aquarium Rescue Unit and many more.
Covering a wide array of musical genres including, but not limited to; rock, blues, bluegrass, funk, jazz, reggae, fusion and zydeco, Highly Kind is keeping that southern fried funk sound alive, and is surely one of the most entertaining bands on the road.
