Dakkota

Dakkota is a North Carolina-based country/southern rock music band. The group, composed of five Elon College graduates, was brought together while attending Elon College as undergraduates. Though their academic courses of study varied extensively, they each shared a common passion for music. Brought together by a remarkable combination of fate and pure coincidence, Dakkota was born in early January of 1994. While they were in school and since they have graduated, Dakkota has experienced lows which should justify a "VH1 documetary" and highs which could have awarded them "CMA Entertainers of The Year". Through it all, the group has retained its five original members and surprisingly continues to share the lust for America's greatest music format, country music. Dakkota combines the melodies of country with the drive of Southern rock to produce their own distinct sound. Their highly energetic, interactive stage show and newly released album has allowed them to perform with the biggest names in Country music such as: Charlie Daniels, Tracey Lawrence, Bryan White, George Jones, Kenny Chesney, Brooks and Dunn Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Travis Tritt Sammy Kershaw, Dixie Chicks and too many more to mention... Dakkota has built a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the SE United States. Touring extensively since 1994, they've entertained crowds from New York to Florida and from Delaware to Kansas City, MO. Their perseverance has awarded them "Country Music Entertainers of the Year" for five consecutive years by the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA). In 1999 and in 2000 they won the Nat'l award for "Best Band" for the "Assocation for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA)". Dakkota has been especially fortunate and grateful for recently teaming up with the "John Boy and Billy Big Show", the Southeast's biggest morning talk show. Dakkota has made several live appearances on the show. They discussed the future of the Band and performed some of their live original songs. Recently, Dakkota and “The Big Show” pulled together to heighten awareness of the recent eastern NC hurricane disaster. With the help of “The Big Show”, Dakkota is currently touring throughout the Southeastern US to raise money and awareness for the recent NC hurricane disaster. Just in!!! Dakkota will be making several appearances in the new "John Boy and Billy" motion picture. Filming is set to begin at the end of March and will include many entertainment celebrities. Lynyrd Synyrd may also be making a few appearances in this nationwide motion picture. Furthermore, Dakkota has been asked to write several songs for the movie's soundtrack. In fact, one has already been written and is being performed on "The Big Show" quite often. With their growth and popularity, Dakkota has also sparked the interest of NASCAR legend, Richard Petty. In the past five years, they have performed the annual July 4th parties, corporate and political events for the "King" of Stock Car Racing. He's a great guy! Dakkota is one of the fastest growing, most talented country music groups in the industry today. A rapidly growing fan club and extensive tour schedule have rewarded them with popularity across the country. Their combined talents as songwriters and live performers has launched them into the ranks of today's up and coming country artists. **Dakkota stays booked up; see the: "Book this Band” link in order bring them to your school!
